Six Insights for 2026 đŁ
Six Insights for 2026 đŁ
After an early morning of relentless rain that lasted well into the afternoon, the sun arrived to warm things up again. Last nightâs New Year's neighborhood fireworks lasted well after 2am, and the ensuing downpour washed away all of the smoke that crept into my house and clung to the air outside. Today Iâm drinking mÄmaki tea and remembering how close the explosions were, and how the cacophony shook the entire house for hours.
When I stepped into my yard to greet the sun, I saw the family of six feral chickensâone mother and her five half-grown chicksâthat Iâve been feeding for the last week, hiding amongst my aloe vera plants. I scattered brown rice and almond flour on the ground for them and wondered where they had found refuge during the nightâs shock and awe.
My thoughts began to make associations with last nightâs experience to 2025 as a whole. All of the external chaos that came with the year was debilitating at times, and keeping up with the latest breaking news and social media posts felt like enduring explosion after explosion, some arriving with a small bang and others shaking our foundations.
We were all like wild chickens running for shelter, trying to find sustenance. And some of us were lucky enough to have people provide us with aid. So many communities came together to protect and defend their neighbors. I am grateful to have been given that kind of support as well.
Without it, I wouldnât have gotten through my challenges in the ways that I did. I wouldnât be here now, with my nervous system feeling calm and regulated, with all of the perspectives Iâve been integrating.
These insights came out of that support and that work, and I want to share them with you.
My top 6 insights to ring in 2026:
Make time for joy first. Schedule it before work gets in the way.
If you work first, and play with whatever time and energy is left, youâre usually left with nothing. Happiness deserves planning too. Besides, discipline does not inspire learning in the way that joy does. Be devoted to joy.
Everything takes longer than you think it does, especially healing.
This is a very âyou canât rush the riverâ kind of sentiment and Iâm sure youâve heard it before. Still, I keep coming back to it, because when my mind initializes something I can see the end result almost immediately, similar to how I write short stories. I can feel it becoming real, but then I have to stretch time out and plot the in-between, while understanding that my timeline might need revision at any moment.
For me, healing is less of a goal and more of an agreement with my mind, body, and soul. Itâs a way of living in partnership with my holistic Self. And that is how we cultivate patience. We give grace to every part of us, especially the disparate ones.
You create your own closure.
Replace the word âclosureâ with âpeace.â
Life is going to be filled with loose ends, unanswered questions, and stories with no final chapter. What someone else says ultimately doesnât matter. No apology or communication from someone else can give you closure, because it comes from what you tell yourself. Give yourself the gift of peace by acknowledging that life is messy and sometimes things just donât make sense.
Allow people to be who they genuinely are and let them show up for you in the way that they naturally do. Then determine if that is enough for you.
Unless youâre acting in a play together, no one should be giving anyone a script.
Your life is the ritual and you are the altar.
What you do on the daily creates an order to your existence. Intentionally setting aside quality time and claiming psychic space for ceremony allows you to shift how you see, feel, and live your experience. Ceremony gives your life layers of distinction, making the ordinary seem extraordinary. Treat your body as the sacred vessel that it is, and participate fully in your own myth-making.
When inspiration strikes, take action as soon as possible.
In my experience, inspiration has a half-life like a radioactive material. The more time you allow to pass from the moment it begins, the less likely you are to do anything about it. Eventually, that spark diminishes completely. Carpe diem!
We are in winter, a time for rest, reflection, and restoration. Now is when we compost old stories and tend our inner fire.
In springtime we will be reborn, but now is the time to dream about what you want to grow. How can you honor your roots? What would nourish them?
Are you ready to dream new stories? Perhaps you already have a vision for 2026 and youâd like assistance in actualizing it.
